Witness Requirements
In addition to completing the Konin Todoke, you’ll need two witnesses to sign the form. This is a legal requirement, but the witnesses do not have to be present with you at the city office when you submit the form.
Here’s how we can help:
- Option 1: My wife and I can serve as your witnesses. As Japanese residents, our signatures meet the legal requirements, saving you the trouble of finding your own witnesses and don’t have to physically be at the city office when you get married.
- Option 2: If you’d prefer to have your own witnesses, we’ll need their full names, birthdates, nationalities, and local addresses in Japan. Your witnesses must accompany you to the city office on the day of submission.
